Porcelain Inlays/Onlays: Lay It On
Inlays and onlays are used for back teeth with minor to moderate decay or fractures. Inlays are used for the center biting surface of the tooth in between the “cusps” or edges of the tooth. For a tooth that has damage on or beyond the cusps, onlays are used.
They are made from tooth-colored porcelain placed over the tooth. Both add durability to the tooth and help stave off bacteria. With inlays or onlays, the need for eventual crowns or tooth loss is almost nonexistent, and they can last up to 30 years. What do you know that last that long anymore?
The Benefits of Inlays and Onlays
